the eyebrow issue

Who knows me, knows that i used to not really have any eyebrows. And that i liked it that way and actually thought it looked good. It didn't. I have always been having issues with my eyebrows. Years ago my mom already told me that my eyebrows were way too thin or non-existent and that it would make my face even bigger than it was. ( I was really chubby back in the days. The photos don't show it, but i was. Believe me. 57kg at 1,70m.)  Me, teenager, better knowing about everything and anything, of course, didnt listen to her. So i spent three or four years of my adolescence walking around with pretty shit eyebrows. Sometimes i didn't havy any at all, because i shaved them off. Then i would use a eyebrow pencil to draw them and worse, I wasn't good at it. I looked really fucking shit. Add the bad make-up skills and you have a pretty not-so-pretty chubby asian teenage girl. Quite recently I have become more obsessed with make-up, especially Korean make-up. What I personally love about Korean make-up is that it makes you look young and fresh. Radiant skin, youthful glow, with make-up on looking like you don't wear any make-up (I just spent 130€ on Korean make-up products, look forward to a beauty haul post lol). After a lot of research, going through youtube tutorials and beauty blogs, I realized that eyebrows have a whole damn lot to do with how your face appears to be. How much the arch, the colour and the thickness of your eyebrows matter. If iam being honest, iam pretty shit at make-up. Iam good at drawing my eyeliner, but that's about it. I don't know how to pick the right concealer tone for my skin, don't know how to apply blush properly and until a couple months ago never gave much consideration to my eyebrows. I knew that I didn't like them, but I didn't really bother to do something about them besides shaving and plucking. So, after some lessons in the art of Korean make-up i decided that i like how their eyebrows look. Straight, thick eyebrows. This whole Korean make-up topic is pretty recent and still swirling around in my head from time to time, so when i stumbled upon QiuQiu's funny post today, in which she photoshopped celebrities, i got even more determined to find a way for me to have awesome eyebrows. Because it makes such a difference !!!! See for yourself :

Yes, i do aim for that innocent, youthful look ! Can't say it looks worse after Photoshop, right ?? When I was a teenager (I can't believe iam over twenty already fml), i loved Japanese gyaru make-up. But i never quite figured out how to achieve that look with minimum effort. It was impossible to me. It just doesn't suit my face. Too much make-up doesn't suit my face. Everything with fake lashes and little eyeliner doesn't suit me. My eyes look dull with fake lashes, thus i would have to wear circle lenses to balance it out, but i don't like wearing lenses. I don't know, i always wanted to look like the models in Vivi magazine, but i just never did. So eventually i gave up on Japanese style make-up. My hair has never looked like theirs either, but iam not giving up on that yet though haha.

Looks like not much make-up going, huh ? You have no idea. Watch those gyaru make-up tutorial and you will see. It's a lot of work to look good. Problem: Iam lazy. Iam lazy, want to look good and put minimum effort into make-up. Eyebrows don't take up a lot of time. So i expanded my make-up routine by using... eyebrow shadow ? Lol. Like eyeshadow but for eyebrows. And i feel so much better looking ever since ! Back in the days i always aimed for the wasted look. Ready to party, no matter what time of the day it was. Failed attempts of gyaru make-up, way too much mascara on the bottom lashes, shit eyeliner. If i had figured out this whole eyebrow, eyeliner story when i was 13, i could have looked much better throughout the years. But never mind. Iam here at last. At almost 21 i figured out that eyebrows are important, and that Korean style eyebrows make you look more youthful. I discovered this just recently, so i will try out more things with my eyebrows. maybe an even thicker shape or the use of an eyebrow pencil. If you need a tutorial, check out this or this blog. I think they do it pretty well. So girls, do you like your eyebrows? If not, try to do something about them ! It will make such a difference. Don't go through this long journey of shitty brows. Like me.

2007 // When i got into gyaru style make-up. Tried and failed. I didn't know how to use eyeshadow and shaved off my eyebrows completely. Shape was weird as well.

late 2010 // I went to Vietnam and Singapore during the summer holidfays and bought some Japanese eyebrow powder going with my new hair colour. Looks much better already, doesn't it ? The arch still too edgy though.

2011 // Eyeliner changed, everything changed. I discovered my signature eyeliner that year. My eyebrows had up and down times, depending on how i plucked them.

2012 // I realized that i don't like the arch of my eyebrow too edgy so I shaved the edge off at times, but didn't like it too curvy either. But all in all, much better now.

2013 // Recently I have paid more attention to my eyebrows, made them look thicker and all. I still fail on some days, but yeah, can't get worse from this point.

So, what do you think. 2013 is definitely the best year yet for my eyebrows, isn't it ! : ) As for me, i like them as they are now. I will try to draw them a little thicker and see how it will look like. Who knows, maybe i will become a beauty blogger because of my eyebrows ; ) I actually do have many topics to talk or write about, but these kind of blog entries take up a lot of time. This one alone took me about two hours, with picture research and all. But I enjoy doing it, so please leave me some feedback. More such posts ? Then hit the like button. Or are you ok with blogging style up to now. Wouldn't mind either. Whatever, in the end i'll just do what i feel like anyway. Don't mind my orthography and grammar please. I don't know why but i feel like my English is very bad recently. Cheers x
