District Mot / Berlin-Mitte

I had a pretty nice and sunny day in Berlin today. Had a look at a beautiful one-room appartment, which was a tad too pricey at 500€ for 40 square metres, went shopping and had great dinner. My boyfriend took me to "District Mot", which opened roughly a month ago, and it was fab ! District Mot wants to convince with Saigonese street food, and they even have grilled chicken feet on the menu. Big fuckin plus ! I love the fact that they have food and beverages on the menu that might not appeal to western ppl at first glace. Chicken feet salad anyone ? ; ) And the interior is top. Saigonese street flair in a cleaner and stylisher context. The chairs, some tables and other interior pieces are originally Vietnamese, imported all the way from there as well. Order some side dishes, a couple beers or fresh lime juice, grab a table outside or by the window and there you go. Enjoy a bit of the Vietnamese vibe in the middle of Berlin.
If i had to rate out of 5, i'd give 5/5 for interior and vibe. I dont know about the service because my bf knows some of the people working in there. The food... an ok 4/5 because it does really look fuckin pretty good. Its not the best Vietnamese food i have ever had, but i need to credit the autheticity mixed with how it looks. It looks and smells very yummy. We had the chicken feet salad (didnt like at all... the other ingredients didnt blend with the chicken feet. Have had better ones. Or maybe not my taste, cos boyfriend thought it to be ok.), grilled chicken feet (i was so happy. Solid taste. Not the best ones ever but not bad either !), Bun Moc (rice noodle soup with some beef nd shit. Dont know how to explain. Was huuuuge ! Bf says that the broth wasnt well seasoned though. Says all, my bf is actually pretty easy when it comes to food and taste lol.) aand Banh Trang Bun Thit Nuong (rice papers with rice noodles, grilled pork meat and various herbs. Loved how this dish looks. SO nice ! Absolutely fresh and beautiful. Solid dish, tasted well, fish sauce was good. Thumbs up). So as you can see, one dish was good, one was alright, two were... not that well seasoned. I have had plenty of really good Vietnamese food in my life. I would return to District Mot (which means district one btw, the centre of Saigon) for the atmosphere, for the very delicious drinks and variety of viet desserts, but not so much because of the food. Need to try other main dishes next time. And dont have their Aperol Sour. Unless you like it bitter. I also have had plenty of Aperol Sours in my life as well, and this one definitely lacks orange juice, syrup and citron juice. It wasnt sour at all. Tasted like Aperol mixed with something.... Thinking about it now... Maybe it wasnt Aperol Sour after all D: maybe it was a Spritz : / guess they got it wrong.

Anyway, i will still recommend this place. Actually iam still amazed by it haha. So if you're around in Berlin, check it out. Its the same owner as from "Chén Chè" by the way.  Which is just across the street. Here some impressions taken with my iPad:
