Hotel experiences
Silk Path Hotel 195 Hang Bong Street Hoang Kiem District, Hanoi
One of the greatest thing about being a blogger is that you have a space for yourself on which you can share your experiences and random daily shit with your close friends. I'm not a fan of writing reviews on other pages, even though I go through shit experiences sometimes.
Right now I'm so happy and want to hug the world, fly to the moon and back and yeah, I need to share this right away, because I think I will lose enthusiasm to do so tonight. Did I win the lottery ? No I didn't. Ok so I'm in Hanoi now right ? I booked my first hotel room after three beer or so, and thought hey, it has good reviews and looks clean and is cheap. Like 14 Euro per night. I was going to fly to HN the next day, so I just booked it. It's called Hanoi Apple Hotel. The name should have had a disturbing effect on me already, but I had had a long day, and was just glad that I was able to tick one thing off on my to-do list. I don't know what's with me, sometimes I'm extremely careful with money and sometimes I can jst waste it like sht ! Apparently I've had a few of the careful days. I swear the week before I was willing to pay like 300€ per night for a resort in Nha Trang, and then I book a hotel at 14€ a month being happy about it cos it's so cheap... What's wrong with me ? Haha. Ok after a very long ride from the airport to that hotel, all I could think of on the way was how really disgustingly humid and damp it is. I guess Hanoi simply is like that in winter and spring. Like it's cold but damp. Btw I decided to pay 40K instead of 400K, and took the shuttle bus instead of the taxi. It's not like the taxi was going to be any quicker, so yeah saved 360K. If you're a budget traveller, I advise you to do so. You can buy the tickets on the flights of budget airlines like Jetstar and Vietjet. There were a los of mosquitos in the bus though, so be aware of that. Ok I arrived at the hotel, and the staff was soooo nice. Seriously, super helpful, couldn't have asked for more ! I arrived at 9pm, all no problem at all. My problem was: it was still damp and humid and disgusting. Then I came into the room, which is really small in the first place, and not very new and clean on the second view either, I started to hate on myself. I felt disgusted. I didn't realize that I turned the timer on, so the A/C kept turning off. It wasn't cold or hot, and I don't even know whether A/C can do something about dampness, but I felt hopeless anyway. I tried taking a shower, but yeah, as I said, not very new. A little disgusting even. I sat there for like three hours, until started getting signs of losing my breath. I get that sometimes when I feel overly disgusted, excited or whatever too much. I had to book a new hotel. QUICK. QUICCKKKK ! I actually didn't even want to stay there for another half an hour but I had to bear one night. Can't check out in the middle of the night, can I ? Then I started looking for a hotel again. More carefully. There are billions of 3 star budget hotels in Hanoi which have good reviews, and I simply couldn't decide. It took me more than an hour to make the right decision. I picked this Silk Path Hotel, because I know the street and the surroundings, good reviews, especially many when it comes to cleanliness, 4 stars and I paid 283 Euro for 4 nights. That's great considering how much I love this room I'm sitting in and blogging from right now !!!! It's not like I'm a sucker for cleanliness having some problems when something is not clean, but it's not like I like it when it feels or looks dirty either. Like my nails the past days. I've been really bothered by them, I need a manicure today !! Ok I checked out at the other hotel, saying my family doesn't allow me to stay at a hotel, and then drove over to this place and just the entrance hall felt like heaven already. Central air conditioning system, no dampness, great service, super great service, light and clean and nice. Once I stepped into my room and checked it out, you can't imagine how relieved I felt. Walking around talking to myself and texting everyone how happy and stupid Iam haha. I checked every corner, but no dust to be found. Not even on the back of the TV, or on the lamp above the bed. I don't whether that is because the cleaning is good, or because there simply is no dust here, but you know what that means ? It feels clean. And it feels damn fucking good. The bathroom is clean and as well, and that's all I need. I love this place to bits, and probably wouldn't have been able to appreciate it THIS much if I hadn't stayed at that disgusting place for one night yesterday. I think I can't do that anymore. Sleeping somewhere just because it's cheap. I have a few recommendations for you as well now, regarding reviews. Later on I realized that a lot of the reviews for the other hotel were kind of old, like from two years ago, while the reviews for this Silk Path Hotel were rather new. Like form a couple days ago. A lot can happen in two years. So yeah, pay attention to that ! I know some people care more and some people care less, apparently I have become one of those people who care more now. Which means I need to make more money, so I can afford nicer places to stay at haha. (Pop Up Sale in Hanoi this weekend ! More on that later though.)
One good thing about the Apple hotel though: Service more than friendly. Too bad they work there and not somewhere else. But service here is great as well !
This is the old hotel room. At least I got rose petals upon arrival haha.
