Sustainability & Anti-plastic Movement - Just a Hype ?

JJ changed my life and view on things in many different ways.

“Oh, we can’t change anything about it anyway. How can we not use plastic anymore ?” It’s the same as wanting to live healthy and then still shoving that big cup of The Alley Tra sua duong den into your belly. I’m not going to be a preacher here. I’m not going to tell you to stop using single-use plastic. I just urge you, to be more aware. To avoid it, if you can. And no, this is not me doing PR for Helly Tong’s LaiDay Refill Station, but me sharing my real opinion on things. I know what people say. But what people say doesn’t matter. What matters is this one girl, taking action, and trying to change things. SHE matters. She is fucking trying to save this planet. To change things. To make our country a better place. For our sake. But she can’t do that by herself. Without other people’s support.

If you’ve been to Phu Quoc and there was no plastic, it’s because somebody cleaned the beach that morning. Because when I went, and it was stormy, it was impossible to keep the plastic from coming ashore. All kind of instant noodle packaging, straws, plastic bags. Everybody knows it’s really hard to recycle plastic. A lot of the plastic thrown into nature will take dozens and hundreds of years to decompose. And it’s just going to get more and more.

I mean I didn’t really care until I had JJ. The future didn’t matter so much. I was drunk every night, how could I. I was too busy caring about myself, and how to get my life on track, and my own cause of empowerment. Nature wasn’t too much of a deal to me. Plastic wasn’t much of a deal. But now I have a baby. And I have the opportunity to raise that baby to be a responsible citizen of this world. And in order to do so, I have to lead by example somehow.

Helly’s Ambitions with her efforts and LaiDay Refill station inspire me to do better. Besides educating the public, at Laiday you can purchase more sustainable products, and reduce your own plastic usage by refilling household products such as shampoo, shower geld, laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, etc. Lai Day is a great concept store and a mile stone for Vietnam’s sustainability movement. It shouldn’t be just a hype or something people condemn as hypocritical. Because it’s people, such as Helly Tong, and their ambitions that change the world we live in, for the better of all of us.

I was invited to the launching event of the Petite Ashfield by Daniel Wellington yesterday and they took us to the top of Saigon. I totally forgot how gorgeous this city actually is. I loved the new pieces so much, I decided to stock them for Floralpunk again. DW did a little rebranding and looks much more contemporary and cool, but still classy, to me now. I totally love it !

With christmas coming up and the question what to give to your beloved ones, that is still affordable but still shows value, a watch is always a perfect gift I think. Daniel Wellington is the perfect everyday watch, bought and worn by so many people all over the world with its own signature look. Even with the new mash strap, it still looks super DW, a brand I admire because they totally made it !

Morning Routine

When I go to sleep, Juju will be somewhere. He usually doesn't sleep on my bed. He has his own pillow in the corner, or he sleeps under my bed or just somewhere. But every time I wake up he will be there lying on my bed at my feet. And whenever I wake up he wakes up. He never gets up before me. He never goes to sleep after me. When I sleep, he sleeps. When I wake up, he wakes up. And once I do, he will come and lie next to me. Like into my arms, next to my body and he will want cuddles. He's super fluffy and soft, just like a teddy bear, so of course it's very nice. Like a childhood dream come true. You know when you wish your stuffed teddy bear was real ? Haha.

There are definitely pro and cons about having a dog. Just like having a baby. Or buying a car. And having parents. You enjoy all the joy they bring, and you live with the responsibilities they bring along. Don't get a dog when you can't bring up the feeling of responsibility to take him out for walks, to give him a proper social life, it's a living being with needs and it depends on you.

My morning routine usually goes like this: I wake up, cuddle Juju, brush my teeth, make some tea, go take Juju to pee outside, come back with my tea cooled down a bit and either get ready to leave the house right away or I make breakfast for me and Juju and then leave the house. If I eat outside Juju gets to eat kibbles at the shop. I realised that if I don't have a proper routine, I feel kind of unbalanced. Especially my morning tea makes me calm down a lot and not feel so stressed right when I wake up and think of all the things I have to do that day.

So so many questions, here is the answer : )
Full video on how I do it at the end of this post.

I use this app for almost everything. To make banners for Floralpunk, to test layouts, I don't even know all the things I use it for, I just know that I use it a LOT.

I love this app so much and without it my life would be incomplete now. Seriously, I use it whenever I need to present something to the girls, for collages, for anything visual pretty much. In case of instagram stories I use it to create gif-kinda things. I save every step, upload all the single steps on instagram stories and there you have your insta gif : ) I also use it to create backgrounds with typography in combination with cute cut pro because I find the typo function in CCP way too hard to use, and the only font I like is Didot, which CCP doesn't have I think. I didn't bother to actually even look, so I dont know.

I just found this app recently but I absolutely love it. It enables me to do all the drawing things I have always been wanting to do but haven't been capable of because of my lacking photoshop skills. It has a lot of touch short cut options which I still have to learn and master, but besides that, this app is amazing !

You have so many different pencil and colour options, but me being a person of consistency, I always use the same ones.

It does offer in-app purchases, but for me personally I don't find it necessary. But I'll probably buy them anyway, just in case. And to support the app developer hehe.

Ok this is the app most of you guys have probably been asking me about. How to insert videos and photos into one sequence. It's pretty much exactly like iMovie or any other desktop program, just that this one is actually strong enough to work on the iPhone! I hate the interface, because everything is so tiny and you have to use your huge fingers to put everything into place. But I have been using it so much that I'm kind of used to it now. At least I don't get annoyed anymore. There is also an iPad version which should be better, because bigger, and a version for Macbook, which I'm sure noone will use, because who would put in that much effort for insta stories, right ?

My most favourite people in the world for insta stories are Shini Park and her assistant Simon, who are genious. I love their insta stories so much because they are always so so so creative and on point.

In case you don't know Shini Park from, go check out her blog now. The content will blow your mind. I have been following her for ten years or so, ever since I was a 14-year old teenage girl sitting in front of my living room computer and didn't even know what an iPhone was. Simon also recently re-launched his webpage under Or follow them on instagram ! @ownwayofinspiration & @parkncube.

This is the real time video of me creating a story for instagram using the apps mentioned above. I hope this answers all your questions : )
